DC Restaurant Trolls White Nationalist Customers in the Most Epic Way Possible
22 November 2016
Imagine accidentally hosting a dinner for Neo-Nazis in our nation's capital. Well, that's exactly what happened to Maggiano's, an Italian restaurant in Friendship Heights on last Friday.
As protesters demonstrated outside the restaurant, management had no idea members of white nationalist group were dining inside.
The controversial dinner included guests such as National Policy Institute (NPI) President Richard Spencer and Reality star Tila Tequila. Spencer coined the term "alt-right" for his white nationalist movement and has called for "peaceful ethnic cleansing." In addition to issuing apology for "inadvertently hosting this meeting," the restaurant also pledged to donate its $10,000 in profits to the Anti-Defamation League's local office.

Initially, NPI had planned to host their dinner at The Hamilton, but management canceled the event due to potential disruption from protesters.
"We didn’t really know the nature of the event,” Hamilton spokeswoman Molly Quigley said. “Once there was a threat of protest and disruption, we canceled it for the safety of our guests and employees and our business."
