During a Sunday appearance on CBS' Face the Nation, former Attorney General Bill Barr said he would be willing to serve as a witness during ex-President Donald Trump's upcoming January 6 trial.
Department of Justice special counsel Jack Smith served Trump his third indictment on Tuesday, August 1 over his alleged attempt to overturn the 2020 election, announcing that his team is seeking a speedy trial.
Face the Nation host Major Garrett asked the former attorney general, "Were you interviewed by the special counsel?"
Barr replied, "I'm not going to get into any discussions."
Garrett followed up with "Would you appear as a witness, if called?"
Barr said, "Of course."
The former AG became vocal about his criticism of the former president in December 2020 when "Barr resigned as attorney general and described Trump's debunked election fraud claims as "bu*****t" and "completely bogus."
The ex-attorney general has also referred to Trump as a "weak candidate that would lose," deeming him "emotionally unfit" to run for president.
