Alvin Bragg seeks 30-day delay for Trump trial 'in an abundance of caution'

New York County District Attorney Alvin Bragg said Thursday that he did not oppose a 30-day delay in Donald Trump's trial over hush money payments to cover-up of his sex scandal.

In a three-page filing before the New York Supreme Court, Bragg responded to a motion to dismiss made by Trump's lawyers after they received thousands of pages of information from the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Bragg said he would explain in a Friday filing why the case should not be dismissed. Instead, the district attorney called for a pause in the trial to allow Trump's legal team to review the new papers.

Bragg said he supported the delay even though he pointed out it was Trump's fault.

"We note that the timing of the current production of additional materials from the USAO is a function of defendant's own delay," the filing said.

This is the latest of Trump's criminal trials to be delayed. Two election interference cases and a classified documents case have also seen delays in recent days.
