'Is she calling DJT naturally beautiful?' Trump lawyer's slating of Stormy Daniels' Vogue interview backfires
Donald Trump's New Jersey U.S. Attorney Alina Habba is giving up her effort to retain her position.
Habba took over the U.S. attorney's office, but a state court stepped in once her temporary term was up. If Habba wasn't officially confirmed by the U.S. Senate, the court could pick an interim U.S. attorney. In this case, they appointed the deputy. The Justice Department then tried to claim that Habba was actually appointed as the deputy the day before the court appointed the deputy.
According to her statement, Habba is abandoning the post with a victory lap.
"For the past five years I have fought for justice on behalf of the American people, and my tenure under our great Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, we made New Jersey safer," she said in the statement.
"While I was focused on delivering real results, judges in my state took advantage of a flawed blue slip tradition and became weapons for the politicized left. For months, these judges stopped conducting trials and entering sentences, leaving violent criminals on the streets," Habba blamed.
Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) described the blue slip as "[preventing] one party from jamming through nominees who don’t align with the values in the communities they would serve. It ensures home-state senators retain a say on behalf of their constituents."
Trump wants Republican Senators to eliminate the "blue slip" option.
