WATCH: Jon Stewart Hilariously Blasts Open Carry Gun Loonies and the NRA

"Everyone is scared of gun nuts . . . even other gun nuts."

Jon Stewart blasted a hole in both NRA and Open Carry Texas' logic last night and reached the conclusion that we are standing at the intersection of "Open Carry Road and Stand Your Ground Place." At that intersection an open carry enthusiast walks in with their gun, and another person feels reasonably threatened, and, Blam! This, the comedian said, "sound like a perpetual violence machine.... or, wait a minute, this whole thing is a business plan for arms dealers."

Bingo!

The back story is that a group of gun fanatics called Open Carry Texas have been demonstrating their right to bear arms by carrying assault rifles into fast food joints in Texas and scaring the bejeezus out of regular people.

Shockingly, the NRA criticized the practice calling it inconsiderate. When Open Carry Texas defied the NRA censure, the tough guys at the NRA backed right down and said they support people's right to carry guns openly (and scare the bejeezus out of regular people just out to have something to eat.) It turns out, Stewart quipped, "Everyone is scared of gun nuts, even other gun nuts."

Stewart points out the lunacy of it all, makes some pretty silly gags about guns and nuts, and lays bare the whole cynical ploy that is the gun lobby.
