President Donald Trump on Thursday once again accused former President Barack Obama of performing clandestine spy operations during the 2016 presidential campaign.

The tweet, which recalls Trump’s unsubstantiated claim that Obama “wire tapped” Trump Tower during the 2016 presidential election, followed a bizarre post congratulating America on being in the “second year of the greatest Witch Hunt in American History.”

“The only Collusion was that done by Democrats who were unable to win an Election despite the spending of far more money,” Trump wrote Thursday morning.

Trump appears to be parroting commentary from right-wing media that surfaced after the New York Times on Wednesday published a report on the early days of the Russia investigation. That article detailed the FBI’s efforts to monitor the Trump campaign after former aide George Papadopoulos boasted about Russia having dirt on former Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

The president also appeared to reference an interview with National Review’s Andrew McCarthy, who claims Obama opened the FBI investigation that targeted Trump’s campaign.
