America is a place where you can get shot over stealing beer. That’s the lesson from a Saturday night incident in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Texas’ KRIS-TV reportsthat a store owner has been charged with murder over the death of a customer allegedly stealing beer. The owner of Duve’s Quick Stop, 51-year-old Rodney Duve, shot the 39-year-old customer trying to steal beer in the doorway. KRIS-TV reported that the person trying to rob the store was a “known gang member.”

One of Duve’s neighbors defended his actions. “I probably would've done the same thing. It's one of those things where how many times can you be pushed until you fight back. Everybody has their limit,” the neighbor told the news outlet.

But as Raw Storypointed out, another told KRIS-TV that there was “reason to take someone’s life for two cases of beer when the person was almost outside.”
