Aren't You Using Your Religion to Deny Gay Rights? [VIDEO]

One of the most interesting moments from the CNN/YouTube debate, the 2008 Democratic candidates hypocrisy on gay rights was revealed again.
It was an intelligent and direct question from an unusual source. A black minister, Rev. Reggie Longcrier, asked John Edwards how he can justify citing his Southern Baptist roots as the reason he can't support gay marriage. Especially, in light of the fact that religion was used to justify slavery and denying women ther right to vote. It was surprising, since there has long been a myth that black clergymen are uniformly opposed to gay marriage (since Bush embraced that notion as a campaign strategy in 2004) and because Edwards' own wife seems to have embraced reality on this issue while her husband stubbornly refuses to. Personally I'm just not buying the notion that Edwards is just "oh, so tortured" over this issue. Or that he's going on some personal journey to understand the plight of gay couples. Obama's answer was at least more sincere , but just like Rev. Longcrier, I feel disappointed, check out the video to your right for more.
