The 2006 Progressive Motto Finalists

See who made the cut and vote for the winner.
If the 2006 motto entries are anything to go by, there's still a lot of bitterness, frustration, and sadness over the events of 2005. And rightly so. But all that anger is going to be chanelled toward change in 2006, fueled by one of the inspiring mottos below.

Here are the five finalists, chosen by AlterNet staff from the 40+ entries received. The actual winner of the fabulous Robert Greenwald DVD, Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price, will be chosen by you, the people in an instant run-off. I know everyone's a bit rusty at voting but it's time to get in practice. Here's a little reminder of how it works:

Pick your top three favorites from the list of five below (for the rationale for each posting, go to the original contest entry). If you only have one or two that floats your stiff boat, that's good too.

List them, in order of preference, in the comments section to this post. Don't email them to AlterNet; they won't be counted.

Voting will continue for a week. Only vote once but there's no problem with voting for your own and lobbying your friends and colleagues to do the same. Second place winner will receive an AlterNet t-shirt. Third place winner will receive a smaller size AlterNet t-shirt, a pat on the back, and the consolation that they can still use their motto as much as they want.

1. Bring Democracy Home
2. America, Return the Glory
3. Progress, Not Platitudes
4. Bring Back America (or Bring Back an America We Can Be Proud Of)
5. Restore Democracy
