Although no one in the media seems to be talking about it, a meeting is taking place in Virginia that could cement the same economic interests that lead us to the 2007 crisis. The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP)being negotiated by 13 countries would lead to increased gas exports and increased imported foods, while undermining our domestic laws and increasing the financialization of nature.

First thought: The obsession with OMG WOMEN ARE DOING SOMETHING WRONG WHILE PREGNANT is hitting new highs (lows?) when bars are offering pregnancy tests in the bathrooms to make sure that no woman ever accidentally has a glass of wine after insemination.

Obviously the pain of mourning Mexican mothers was deemed to be just too much for the viewers of US television networks.
The Caravan for Peace, Justice and Dignity just finished a 32 day journey across the US, from San Diego to Washington DC. With stops in 24 other US cities along our southern border including El Paso, and Houston with swings to Atlanta, on to the terrorist training center at Ft. Benning up through Chicago, NYC and down to our nations capitol.

This time last year, I met several Chicago teachers at a union meeting in Florida. It was disheartening to learn that they felt Mayor Rahm Emanuel had no intention of negotiating with them. Since the early days of his campaign he had made it clear that he had a plan to reform Chicago’s schools and the teachers and their union could take it or leave it.

Another day, another out-of-touch statement from Mitt Romney. Speaking today on ABC’s Good Morning America program, Romney said the typical middle-income household in America earned a quarter of a million dollars a year. Wouldn’t it be nice if, for once, we all lived in Romney’s America?
