Maddow on Why Citizens United Must Go: "If You Are Outspent 8-to-1, Then You Are Going to Lose"

In the wake of the failed recall of Scott Walker in Wisconsin, last night Rachel Maddow had a good, if somewhat somber, talk about the realities of campaign cash. “In just about every election, if you are outspent eight-to-one, then you are going to lose. There is occasionally going to be a Hail Mary miracle underdog, but over time, structurally speaking, remove the personality and just think about this in political science terms, if you are outspent that kind of way, the way that Republicans can outspend Democrats with unlimited corporate money, the Democrats are going to lose.” A solution to this problem is overruling Citizens United with a Constitutional amendment, but Maddow called that a "very, very long term goal."
