Happy Six-Month Anniversary! OWS Celebrates With #M17 and #M18 Global Days of Action

On September 17, a group of protesters set up camp in New York's Zuccotti Park, soon re-re-named Liberty Plaza, and soon the protest became unlike any other in recent decades, spreading globally and launching a much-needed public conversation about economic inequality.

Today, March 17, New York City's original Occupy encampment turns six months old, and the movement's supporters are celebrating with several actions lumped under the banners of #M17 and #M18. A "march to raise awareness about food & economic injustice both past and present" will set off from Liberty Plaza at 1pm today, followed by a solidarity rally featuring "special performances & educational presentations from national & international activists."

The group is also planning a 24-hour re-occupation, set to commence with another march from Liberty Plaza at 5pm. Check the Occupy Wall Street site for more details on this weekend's actions.
