Ellen Degeneres Strikes Back at Anti-Gay Bigots Who Are Boycotting JC Penney Because She's Their New Spokesperson

On an episode of her talk show earlier this week, Ellen Degeneres addressed the anti-gay critics who have launched a boycott against JC Penney because of its recent affiliation with the gay actress and comedian. The group that launched the boycott, One Million Moms, tried to get Degeneres fired from her spokesperson gig, but JC Penney refused. Below, Degeneres addresses head-on some of One Millions Moms' anti-gay comments -- something that might not seem too radical to a lot of us, but for some of Degeneres' daytime viewers, it might be. It's also worth noting that Degeneres is coming up on the 15-year anniversary of her infamous "coming out" Ellen episode, and the shitstorm that followed. A decade and a half later, a major company is shrugging off anti-gay sentiment in support of her -- it must feel like quite a journey, albeit one that is far from over.
