Schultz: "A Political Tsunami" is Coming as States Crack Down on Voting Rights

"We need to pay  attention to this, " said Ed Schultz last night, hammering home his worries about the GOP-led drive to disenfranchise Democratic constituencies. "171 electoral votes are in play."

He described a series of laws that could have a "political tsunami" effect on the rights of groups like the elderly, the poor, minorities, the rural and students to vote in the next election--and potentially even have an effect on the election's outcome. These are "laws across more than a dozen states designed to severely reduced voter participation." And the voters from these groups are Democratic voting blocs.

"It's going to take a hell of a ground game to beat this," says Schultz.
