Weird/Strenuous: Woman Blames Sex Addiction on Wii Fit Injury

When we think of "video games," we don't automatically also think "sex," no offense. Even in the case of the Wii Fit, which provides users a way to play sports like tennis and... competitive race car driving without ever leaving their living rooms. But now a 24-year-old woman from Manchester claims that her Wii Fit injury has somehow altered her physiology and turned her into a bona fide sex addict. The Huffington Post:

After falling from her Wii Fit board, Flowers reports that even minor vibrations--such as from a food processor, she says-- "turns her on." She was told by a doctor that she had suffered a damaged nerve that has provoked "persistent sexual arousal syndrome."

"It began as a twinge down below before surging through my body. Sometimes it built up into a trembling orgasm," Flowers says, according to theDaily Star's article "Nintendo Wii Made Me Nympho."

Although Flowers' injury isn't one you see every day, doctors in the UK reported frequently treating patients for Wii-related injuries. According to the Fox News article, "up to ten people a week are being hospitalized with injuries caused by playing Nintendo Wii games."

It's tempting to say things like "it could be worse," but a disorder such as this, known as Persistent Sexual Arousal Syndrome (PSAS), can be mentally as well as physically debilitating:

"Their genitals are aroused 24/7, 365 and they can't concentrate," Dr. Goldstein said. "They can't work. Anything that moves or vibrates will lead them into orgasmic release."

Dearmon was one of those women who had symptoms day-in and day-out. "It's like it's living on its own, with its own mind," she said.
