Pedestrians, Motorists Snatch Up Free Bags of Weed From Crashed Truck

Perhaps this is a fantasy of yours (I won't judge you either way): a truck carrying a significant quantity of marijuana crashes, leaving bags of pot scattered on the road. In the minutes before the cops arrive on the scene, what would you do?

Pedestrians and motorists in San Jose, California, took full advantage of that situation. The San Jose Mercury Newsreports:

Several motorists and pedestrians who happened to be passing through the area ran out and grabbed most of the marijuana bags and took off before police arrived.

Officers eventually collected the remaining bags of weed left at the scene and also found a loaded handgun inside the white truck. They're still looking for the driver and all the people who snatched up the loose bags of pot and don't have any suspect descriptions.

The paper reports that the crash occurred just before 1am and that "the frightened driver ran away." I can't imagine why.
