"Explosive" Jackie O Tapes: She Believed LBJ Conspired to Assassinate JFK
Jackie O believed LBJ conspired to have her husband assassinated, according to tapes she made in 1964 with the historian Arthur Schlesinger Jr., which will be revealed this week on ABC after being locked in a vault at the Kennedy Library in Boston for nearly 50 years. Along with a cadre of Southern businessmen, the former Jacqueline Kennedy thought then-Vice President Johnson had orchestrated the murder, and wished for the tapes to be released 50 years after her death to avoid retaliation for what they contained. However, Caroline Kennedy gave them to ABC in exchange for not airing the Katie Holmes-starring miniseries "The Kennedys," which notoriously rewrote history to suit conservative's revisionary idea of the family and JFK's reign.
Jackie O also cops to having affairs for revenge upon JFK's own dalliances. The Daily Mail:
ABC executives claimed the tapes’ revelations were ‘explosive’.
They are believed to include the suggestion that Mr Kennedy was having an affair with a 19-year-old White House intern, with his wife even claiming that she found knickers in their bedroom.
And they go on to reveal that she too had affairs – one with Hollywood star William Holden and another with Fiat founder Gianni Agnelli – as a result of the president’s indiscretions. It has also been claimed that, in the weeks before Mr Kennedy’s assassination, the couple had turned a corner in their relationship and were planning to have more children.
The tapes will be revealed in "Jacqueline Kennedy, in Her Own Words," a special program slated for September. Diane Sawyer will anchor. Read more here.
