New MoveOn Ads Target GOP's Debt Ceiling Ruse
The GOP's introducing their time-wasting Cut, Cap, and End Medicare "plan" today, despite the fact that they know it won't pass, and the August 2 deadline is coming up fast. Right now, MoveOn is focusing its efforts to target the Republicans who would push this fruitless agenda, and today the organization announced it will expand its efforts. Today they announced radio ads that will focus on Blake Farenthold and Lou Barletta, who are "holding the economy hostage so they can protect tax breaks for corporations and millionaires." Listen:
Barletta
Farenthold
In other news, they're beseeching members to stop in to GOP offices and request they "Don't default on the American dream." Justin Ruben, Executive Director of MoveOn.org, explains:
“The Republicans in Congress, particularly the Tea Party led Freshman Class in the House, are holding our nation’s economy hostage so they can protect tax breaks for the rich and corporations. Political stunts like today’s vote demonstrate clearly to the nation that the Republicans in Congress are willing to do anything to appease millionaires and billionaires, even if it means throwing America's economy off a cliff and destroying Social Security and Medicare."
