Free The Bloombergville 13: Protesters Were Arrested During Budget Vote

The New York City budget was passed on Wednesday, but not without a final brou-ha-ha from the folks at Bloombergville. On Tuesday night when City Council originally met to vote on the budget, B-villers led a protest to 250 Broadway across the street from City Hall. Thirteen protesters bum rushed City Hall and occupied the entrance on the inside and continued the protest yelling “They say cut back, we say fight back!” The disruption squad was arrested with further yells of “Let them go!” by the other protesters. The vote got postponed until Wednesday afternoon (because of ethic laws, not the protesters) and was approved by 49:1, City Councilmember Charles Barron being the lone dissenter. The group is now pleading with the public to raise funds for the protesters' fines and are working with the Solidarity Center and the National Lawyers Guild.
