Al Qaeda Confirms Osama Bin Laden's Death

Al Qaeda has released a statement confirming the death of Osama bin Laden, one of the group's leaders. The AP reports:

The confirmation came in an Internet statement posted on militant websites, signed by "the general leadership" of al-Qaida. The announcement opens the way for the group to name a successor to bin Laden. His deputy Ayman al-Zawahri is now the most prominent figure in the group and is a very likely contender to take his place.

The infamous terrorist group also threatened retaliation against the U.S., writing that "Soon, God willing, [Americans'] happiness will turn to sadness, their blood will be mingled with their tears."

I would say that this would put an stop to the "deathers," but I'm sure at least a few of them will find a way to work this development into their conspiracy theory.
