Lieberman, Dems: "We Have the Votes" for DADT repeal

Don't give up yet, said a group of Democratic senators this morning. If they give the Republicans their precious debate time, they could actually get "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" repealed--with Murkowski and Lieberman on their side and other swing votes like Susan Collins and Richard Lugar potentially willing to come around. At a press conference, Lieberman said;

I am confident that we have more than 60 votes prepared to take up the defense authorization with the repeal of ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ if only there will be a guarantee of a fair and open amendment process, in other words, whether we’ll take enough time to do it.

Lieberman, Al Franken and Sen. Mark Udall even yukked it up about working through Christmas and Hannukah to get the bill passed.

A  note of caution: skeptics believe that the request for a "fair debate" is a stalling tactic by John McCain and others to kill the bill before the lame duck session ends.
