Nancy Pelosi To Run for Democratic Minority Leader

Nancy Pelosi has just announced via tweet that she's running for Democratic minority leader. "Driven by the urgency of creating jobs & protecting #hcr, #wsr, Social Security & Medicare, I am running for Dem Leader," Pelosi said.

In an interview with the Huffington Post earlier today, Pelosi rejected the narrative that the midterm election was a referendum on Democrats' leadership, pointing out "The election was no ringing endorsement of Republicans...We do not accept their version of what this election means. It's not about rejecting what President Obama has done. It didn't go fast enough to create jobs. That's what it's about."

In a letter to her caucus, Pelosi vowed to fight to protect Democrats' achievements, "As a result of Tuesday’s election, the role of Democrats in the 112th Congress will change, but our commitment to serving the American people will not ... we have no intention of allowing our great achievements to be rolled back.”
