WATCH: Matthews to Bachmann, "Are You in a Trance?"

MSNBC had a large and boisterous team covering the election results last night, with Eugene Robinson. Lawrence O'Donnell, Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow sitting in a row, each providing his or her own colorful commentary.

But perhaps the highlight of the night, entertainment-wise, was Matthews' contentious back and forth with GOP Representative Michelle Bachmann. While he repeatedly asked her if she was hypnotized and in a trance because she refused to answer his questions and stuck, smiling zombie-like, to her talking points, she reminded him of the "thrill" he got when he heard Obama's speech in 2004. Watch video below from Mediaite.

Bachmann and other Republicans repetition of the phrase "cut discretionary spending" led the anchors to a series of riffs on how it was a terrible, terrible night, for the vocal supporters of discretionary spending in Washington. A moment or two of levity in an otherwise tough night for the MSNBC crowd.
