Aw Shucks: GOP State Senator Cancels Event to Teach Brooklyn Women How to Sit Like Ladies

"A New York state lawmaker has canceled an event for teaching women how to sit," reports the AP, with what I would call The Lede of the Day.

Indeed, New York State Senator Marty Golden (R) wasplanning an event to help make Brooklyn women into proper ladies. As Think Progress' Aviva Shen noted earlier this week:

As part of a summer series on career development directed at his female constituents, Golden is hosting a taxpayer-funded event called “Posture, Deportment and the Feminine Presence”on July 24. Golden promises to teach Bay Ridge women “the art of feminine presence,” which includes tips on how to “sit, stand and walk like a model” and “walk up and down a stair elegantly.”

Soon after multiple news outlets reported on the event, Golden's team took the details down from his website. Now, the event has officially been canceled.

Ladies, try not to be too disappointed.
