WATCH: Colbert Chides ISIS for Its Social Media Messaging

Stephen Colbert took to the airwaves yesterday to remind viewers that the ISIS terrorist organization is actively using social media outlets such as Twitter and Instagram to spread their “jihadist message.”
And although he wasn’t joking when he reported it, the studio audience screamed with laughter when The Colbert Report anchor said that ISIS is trying to take advantage of trending social media concepts to spread its message.
“They are deviously piggybacking on Twitter trends to spread their message,” said Colbert. “They’re sharing pro ISIS content with the hashtag #WorldCup2014. Watch for that!”
“Do not click on any links from ISIS that say ‘check out this amazing header,’” he joked. “‘Cause it’s not soccer.”
“And ISIS is even T-Mobilizing their followers with an ISIS App for Android phones,” he reported. “It’s perfect for any mujahideen who are bored with playing ‘Fruit Extremist.’”
“We cannot allow ISIS to conquer the Twittersphere,” Colbert warned. “There’s a surefire way to destroy anything on social media…. We must gets ISIS’s moms to join.”
Colbert’s biting satire didn’t stop there. Check out the outrageous opening skit at the video below.
