The Senate’s most senior Republican suggested on Thursday that President Donald Trump could face charges after he leaves office — even if special counsel Robert Mueller declines to indict him while he is president.

CNN’s Manu Raju asked Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT) about the possibility of charges against Trump following the news that Mueller told Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani that he would follow the Justice Department policy against indicting a sitting president.

According to Raju, Hatch posited that Trump could “maybe” be indicted after he vacates the office.
