Conservative defenses of the Alabama Republican grow more deplorable by the day.

A stunning CNN panel discussion with Brooke Baldwin found Brandon Moseley of the Alabama Political Reporter, a backer of GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore, attempting to minimize accusations that he sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl years ago.

Moseley went on a disgraceful tangent about how sexual assault was only a "misdemeanor" at the time.

“Brandon, she was—she was 14 years of age,” Baldwin said with incredulity, as Moseley tried to deflect onto drug use accusations against past Democratic presidents.

Instead of realizing how repugnant the comparisons were after Baldwin challenged him on the moral implications of sexually abusing minors, Moseley doubled down.

“If, you know, Roy Moore had stolen a lawnmower when he was 21 that’s bad. But that’s not a reason 50 years later to all of a sudden, you know, throw him off the ballot,” he said.

Baldwin promptly told Moseley not to "go there."
