Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) made an appearance on MSNBC with host Joy Reid that was intense, even by the congresswoman's standards.

Reid asked Waters for her thoughts on President Donald Trump's racist comment about African nations being "sh*thole countries," and Waters went off.

“I have called him what I know him to be for a long time,” Waters said. “Remember some time ago I called him a scumbag. I’ve called him a racist. Deplorable. Despicable."

She decided to go a step further: “The United States of America is represented by the most despicable human being that could possibly ever walk the earth."

Republicans who refuse to denounce the president are "weaklings with not the guts to stand up." House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) is "evidently [...] not a real leader."

"I wish I could say he didn’t have the courage of his convictions, because I don’t know if he has any,” Waters added before suggesting Ryan be thrown out with Trump.

Reid asked if Waters plans to attend Trump's upcoming State of the Union address.

"I don’t trust him, I don’t appreciate him and I wouldn’t waste my time sitting in that house listening to what he has to say,” Waters responded. “He does not deserve my attention.”
