Fox News host Shep Smith expressed disgust on Tuesday as he read a report about infants and toddlers being separated from their families under President Donald Trump's "zero tolerance" policy.

The report explained that some of the children had not developed the ability to speak.

“Not yet verbal… meaning they can’t even tell those who are keeping them their parents’ names,” Smith said.

Seventeen states have joined forces to sue Trump in an effort to reunite migrant families amid the thousands of separations.

“The administration’s practice of separating families is cruel, plain and simple,” New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal said in a statement. “Every day, it seems like the administration is issuing new, contradictory policies and relying on new, contradictory justifications. But we can’t forget: the lives of real people hang in the balance.”
