Former Cop Shoots Wife Two Months After Getting Arrested For Domestic Assault

Another terrible case of domestic violence.

A former state trooper murdered his wife with a shotgun in a central Pennsylvania grocery store and proceeded to kill himself, the Associated Press reports.

Two months before the murder-suicide, officials arrested Mark Miscavich, 51, for abusing his 49-year-old wife Traci Miscavich. On January 23, Traci tried to take away her husband’s prescription drugs, when Mark pinned her to the ground and attempted to bind her with duct tape. The former cop proceeded to pull out a gun and threaten to kill Traci, when a witness called the police. Mark spent a week in jail before getting bailed out.

Days before Traci Miscavich’s death, which followed a divorce filing, she received more threats from her husband. “She said, ‘The next time I see him is going to be at the end of a gun,’” Traci’s lawyer, Parks Miller, told The Associated Press. “We were very concerned when he got out and we’re just devastated now.”

According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, more than two-thirds of spouses and ex-spouses killed by their partners between 1990 and 2005 died at gunpoint.
