Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), ranking Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, explained during an MSNBC appearance that White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders may have put herself in legal jeopardy.

Comments Sanders made about former FBI director James Comey are the primary concern. Whitehouse described three of her statements as "torpedoes" that may be seen as an attempt to influence grand juries convened by the special prosecutor in the Russia probe, Robert Mueller.

“If the motivation was to poison the reputation of James Comey with the grand jurors, you have another indictment," he said.

The indictment would be for perceived violation of an obstruction of justice statute, according to Whitehouse.
