Appearing on CNN’s “OutFront,” Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol laid into President Donald Trump for his widely criticized West Virginia speech to the Boy Scouts of America.

Trump criticized President Barack Obama in the speech, which incensed Kristol. “What a jackass you have to be to speak to the Boy Scouts and attack your predecessor as president of the United States,” he said.

The sharp criticism led to a confrontation with Paris Dennard, a Republican commentator appearing with him on the panel. After Kristol faux-apologized for his statement to an offended Dennard, the commentator snapped back, “[D]on’t patronize me!”

Kristol was not impressed by the outrage. Instead, he restated his premise for the camera. “He’s a jackass. I’m just gonna say it. That’s an empirical statement. That’s not an attack.”

Well, there ya have it.
