Rubio and Cruz Finally Go for Trump's Jugular, But Is It Too Little, Too Late? (VIDEO)

Meanwhile, Ben Carson felt left out during the final GOP presidential debate: Can somebody attack me, please?

John Kasich and Ben Carson should have left the 10th GOP debate early to make a fruit salad with their magic hands. It was a rumble for three, with Rubio and Cruz attacking Trump with more zeal than ever before — though it all seemed too little, too late.

The truth is, no one would attack Carson or Kasich because they're the bottom-rung performers. Similarly, while Donald Trump fights back, it's only when other candidates attack him first.

Rubio and Cruz — who were called a "choke artist and a liar," respectively, by Trump last night — have been fighting for second place since South Carolina. Sure, they may have made some fair points at the final debate, but it's likely that neither will catch up to Trump.

The New York Times reports:

The acerbic and urgent tenor of the exchanges reflected the panicked state of a Republican field determined to halt Mr. Trump, whose crudely freewheeling style, abundant self-assuredness and durable popularity have produced three consecutive early-state victories that threaten to put the nomination out of reach for his two biggest rivals … They chose war with Mr. Trump. But amid the relentless back and forth, a question hovered: Was it too late?

Trump won nearly 50 percent of the vote in Nevada, and as candidates drop out, he'll gain a lot of their points. Trump just has to keep doing what he's doing to win the nomination. Calling him out on Planned Parenthood or repeating himself may be a small win in the present, but it will in no way gain enough votes to beat him. Sooner or later, they'll realize that second place is both inevitable — and irrelevant.
