Video: House Appropriations Committee's Rosa DeLauro Slams Betsy DeVos for 'Cruel, Inhumane, Heartless' K-12 Budget Cuts

$9.2 billion in proposed budget cuts will hit low-income areas the hardest.

On May 24, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos testified before a House Appropriations subcommittee on President Trump’s fiscal year 2018 budget proposal for her department, which seeks $9.2 billion in cuts.

As Rep. Rosa Delauro, D-CN, the panel's top-ranking Democrat, concluded her remarks, she noted how the Trump-DeVos plan would underfund needed vocational education, invest in private school vouchers that failed miserable in Washington, D.C. and other states, and slash funds for inner-city schools where students face the greatest needs and frequently have the least experienced teacher. 

These cuts are....."cruel, inhumane and heartless," said DeLauro, who pledged to fight them with every ounce of her energy. Watch:
