Colbert's Buddy Cole goes on a "penetrative" mission into the gay Russian underground scene to determine whether president Vladimir Putins ban on "homosexual propaganda" has weakened the gay community.

This is a fun clip. But there are some poignant moments, especially the exchange between Cole and the owner of a gay nightclub in Sochi.

When Cole asked the man whether business had worsened since the passage of the anti-gay propaganda laws, the man replied: "Absolutely not. It's a silly law that can't be enforced. For me, gay relationships are traditional. For someone else, they are not."
