Is actual fact-checking the hot new journalistic trend?

A CNN anchor recently dialled it up to "get off my show" with notoriously bigoted anti-gay activist Bryan Fischer of the American Family Association.

After listening to Fischer declare that 1) a Southern Poverty Law Center-led initiative encouraging gay and straight students to be friends was like feeding kids candy laced with cyanide, 2) defending the conspiracy theory that Hitler used gay troops as enforcers due to their lack of compassion (rather than, y'know, sending them to concentration camps), and 3) saying that being gay was a health risk, Carol Costello ended the interview exasperatedly, saying  “I’m going to end this interview now, sir, because that’s not true," and adding with a mutter: “Thanks for sharing your views, I guess?”

Maybe it's time to stop having guests like Fischer at all, CNN. Anti-gay bigotry is so over.
