For weeks, U.S. President Donald Trump and U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi's handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case dominated the headlines. But Trump's meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday, August 15 and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday, August 18 turned reporters' focus away from Epstein — at least temporarily.
But questions about the Epstein case remain, and former federal prosecutor Joyce White Vance and ex-CNN host Jim Acosta agreed that Trump is acting like he has "something to hide" during a conversation on Acosta's post-CNN online show.
When Acosta argued that Trump is "throwing out every distraction in the book," he got no argument from Vance.

The former federal prosecutor told Acosta, "Trump is in a box on the Epstein files…. If you can pick and choose what you release and claim it's a big, complicated file and delay for months at a time — well, this is how Donald Trump operates. He knows that always works in his favor. He hopes that Epstein drops off the public's radar screen, and he never has to belly up for everything that's in there…. There's no longer any reason to give this administration this presumption of fair dealing and good behavior—something that we've always afford the White House and the administration."
Vance noted that House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Kentucky) is insisting that the Trump Administration is "committed to transparency," but Trump, she said, isn't acting like it.
Acosta commented that Trump is acting like he "is very worried about this."
Vance told Acosta, "My prosecutor's….. senses are saying that's somebody with something to hide…. No one's really using any level of force in that sense against Donald Trump. Because thanks to the Supreme Court, he has no fear of any sort of criminal immunity."
