White House lawyer calls for Bondi and Halligan to be 'disbarred' after flubbed indictment

Former White House attorney Ty Cobb berated U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan for neglecting to put indictments against former FBI head James Comey before a full grand jury — one of the most entry-level procedural steps a prosecutor faces.

“You couldn't find a high school stockboy at Home Depot who could have handled this more ineptly than Lindsey Halligan did,” said Cobb, who worked for President Donald Trump in his first term. “Taking am indictment that the grand jury never saw, having the foreman sign it and then presenting it to a judge? That's the height of ineptitude and misconduct.”

“There is no indictment if only the foreman and some grand juror who was hanging out in the courtroom saw it — that’s two. A quorum is 12,” Cobb added. “You need a quorum to return an indictment. So, the indictment that was presented and they've been proceeding on really is a nullity.”

It doesn’t even count as an indictment, said Cobb, so it doesn't even have to be dismissed. Coupled with Comey’s argument over misconduct issues, miscarriage of justice issues, the denial of due process issues, and the vindictiveness issues, “you know, this case is dead,” said Cobb.

Cobb added that the Wednesday revelation made a critical argument for Trump’s appointed Attorney General Pam Bondi to lose her law license.

“I do think that both Halligan and Bondi should be disbarred,” said Cobb. “Bondi has twice submitted affirmations to this court about the propriety of Lindsey Halligan’s grand jury presentation. She knew this. There's no way she could not have known this. And that just means that she lied or that she's equally incompetent, but more likely that she lied.”
