Twitter suspends Donald Trump Jr.’s account for posting bogus and ‘potentially harmful’ claims on COVID-19

Donald Trump Jr. can be as inflammatory and as reckless as his father when it comes to posts on Twitter, and according to GOP strategist Andrew Surabian, Twitter has suspended his Twitter account, @DonaldJTrumpJr, “for posting a viral video of medical doctors talking about hydroxychloroquine.” Surabian was angry over the suspension, hysterically accusing Twitter of “open election interference.”

In the suspension notice that Surabian posted, Twitter told Trump Jr. that it had “temporarily limited some of your account features” and that he was being suspended for “violating the policy on spreading misleading and potentially harmful information related to COVID-19.”

President Trump and his allies have been quite bullish on hydroxychloroquine as a possible treatment for COVID-19, but medical experts have questioned its efficacy and also emphasized safety concerns.

According to Vice's David Gilbert, the account @DonaldJTrumpJr “will be suspended for 12 hours, during which time Don Jr. will be barred from posting new messages, liking or retweeting other posts. He will still be allowed to use Twitter’s Direct Message service to contact his followers.”
