'Dethroned Donald Trump for the title of world's most gigantic baby': Twitter rips Elon Musk for firing engineers

Twitter owner Elon Musk fired one of the site's last remaining engineers this week because he "did not take the news well" that Twitter's algorithms were not suppressing his engagement statistics.

The story behind what went down at Twitter headquarters on Tuesday was revealed on Thursday by Platformer correspondents Zoë Schiffer and Casey Newton.

"While Twitter is breaking, Elon Musk is holding meetings to interrogate engineers about why his engagement is tanking. On Tuesday, he publicly fired one for showing that the lack of engagement isn’t a bug — he’s just less popular than he used to be," Schiffer tweeted along with their exposé.

One key takeaway, per Platformer, is that "with Musk continuing to fire people impulsively, entire teams have been wiped out, and their work is being handed to other, overstretched teams that often have little understanding of the new work that is being assigned to them."
