'This needs to stop now': Ohio dad slams Trump and Vance for using son’s death 'as a political tool'

In August 2023, an 11-year-old boy in Ohio, Aiden Clark, was killed when a minivan being driven by a Haitian immigrant struck the school bus that he was on.

Former President Donald Trump and his running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), have been using the incident to attack President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris — highlighting the fact that the immigrant was from Haiti and blaming the tragedy on the Biden Administration's immigration policies.

But Nathan Clark, the boy's father, is slamming Trump and Vance for using his son's tragic death to score political points.

NBC News' David Ingram quotes Nathan Clark as saying, "Using Aiden as a political tool is, to say the least, reprehensible for any political purpose. This needs to stop now. I will listen to them one more time to hear their apologies."

Nathan Clark didn't hold back, slamming Trump and Vance as "morally bankrupt politicians."

On X, formerly Twitter, Vance described Aiden Clark as "a child" who "was murdered by a Haitian migrant."

Ingram notes that the August 2023 crash "has fueled anger at a wave of recent Haitian immigrants" in Springfield, Ohio.

"In recent days," the NBC News journalist reports, "that anger has become a national political issue, and it has included the spread of baseless rumors on social media about immigrants harming other people's household pets. The Trump campaign promoted the false claims about Haitian immigrants Monday and Tuesday, using the rumors to attack Harris' record on immigration, though NBC News has not seen any statements that mentioned the Clark family."

During his September 10 presidential debate with Harris, Trump claimed that in Springfield, "They're eating the dogs, they're eating the cats" — a claim that was repeatedly debunked.
