Trump crucifies 'tough guy' Mike Pence over 2020 election indictment criticism
06 August 2023
Ex-President Donald Trump blasted his former ally and Vice President Mike Pence in a Truth Social rant Saturday in response to his criticism of Trump's recent January 6 indictment.
Trump wrote, "WOW, it's finally happened! Liddle’ Mike Pence, a man who was about to be ousted as Governor Indiana until I came along and made him V.P., has gone to the Dark Side. I never told a newly emboldened (not based on his 2% poll numbers!) Pence to put me above the Constitution, or that Mike was 'too honest.' He's delusional, and now he wants to show he's a tough guy. I once read a major magazine article on Mike. It said he was not a very good person. I was surprised, but the article was right. Sad!"
Hours after U.S. Department of Justice special counsel Jack Smith served the MAGA hopeful a third indictment over his alleged attempt to overturn the 2020 election, 2024 Republican presidential candidate Pence took to social media to share his thoughts.

The former vice president tweeted, "Today's indictment serves as an important reminder: anyone who puts himself over the Constitution should never be President of the United States. I will have more to say about the government’s case after reviewing the indictment. The former president is entitled to the presumption of innocence but with this indictment, his candidacy means more talk about January 6th and more distractions. As Americans, his candidacy means less attention paid to Joe Biden's disastrous economic policies afflicting millions across the United States and to the pattern of corruption with Hunter."
Pence was heckled by Trump fans Saturday as a result of his criticism of the former president ahead of an event appearance Saturday, calling him a "traitor" and "sellout."
