As former President Donald Trump continues to face federal charges for mishandling classified documents, the 2024 GOP nominee is currently refusing security briefings for the remainder of election season in order to dodge any further allegations.
According to Axios, the MAGA hopeful told the Daily Mail that he wants to "avoid being accused of leaking information."
More specifically, the Daily Beast notes Trump claims the accusations would come from President Joe Biden's team.

"I don’t need that briefing," the former president said. "They come in. They give you a briefing, and then two days later, they leak it. And then they say, 'You leaked it.' The only way to solve that problem is not to take it—I don’t want it."
Believing he will secure the White House in November, Trump added: "I’ll have plenty of them when I get in."
Per the Beast, when asked about why security briefings are crucial, former acting CIA director Michael Morell said: "The objective is to protect national security during the campaign by giving the candidates a deep sense of the national security landscape."
Additionally, Trump says he doesn't need the intelligence briefings because he already knows "what's happening" around the world.
