MAGA radio host freaks out over new Trump crisis

On Wednesday, a popular MAGA radio host had a social media meltdown over the latest midterm polls, which indicate November will be a disaster for the GOP. According to President Donald Trump loyalist Steve Deace, Republicans are being dragged down by a “political albatross” of their own making.

“Yesterday,” posted Deace, “Iowa House Republicans were informed by their own pollsters that if you are in a +15 district you’re within the margin for error, if you’re in a +10 district you’re underwater, and that this might end being an even worse midterm environment than 2006.” In other words, the GOP’s internal polling shows that unless a Republican House member happens to be in a district where Trump won by an exceptionally large margin, they’re losing, and even the big margin might not save them. The 2006 midterms he references were a catastrophe for the GOP, handing Democrats both houses of Congress and a slew of governorships and state legislative roles, ending over a decade of Republican majority.

“If the environment is this bad in my home state, where Trump has been the most popular political figure over the last decade, I can’t imagine where it is everywhere else,” Deace added. “Whatever we’re doing or not doing in Iran/Hormuz has become a 2020 Covid lockdown level of political albatross. This is approaching TARP bailout levels of unpopular in my home state. We are risking what’s left of the Trump presidency on this, because if Democrats take control the legislative branch the Trump domestic agenda we all voted for will largely cease between what a Democrat Congress will do and the courts have already been doing. Not to mention what it will cost individual states like my own, which we have worked so hard to make so red these last 20 years (with Trump’s help).”

Translation: Trump has become so unpopular that he’s not only tanked his own agenda, but has imperiled Republican gains the party has been working for decades to achieve. And according to Deace, it was all caused by one move. “This whatever/kinda/sorta/but not really war has become an existential misuse of political capital,” asserts Deace. “Many of us never thought it was worth it, and more and more it appears voters agree.”

According to Deace, he “desperately” wants Republicans to win and continue the “great promise” MAGA thought Trump’s presidency offered in 2024. “But whatever this currently is, [it] isn’t it,” admits Deace, warning that the GOP is poised to “sit here and take the L.” In his estimation, Trump should get “out on the stump asap.” He says the party needs to stop running “fake” ads, and “articulate specifically what the mission/victory is in Iran/Hormuz, because out here in the cheap seats it feels like another Middle East War quagmire regular folks are paying for on both ends all over again.”

“This is wild,” responded prominent political analyst Krystal Ball. “The bottom really appears to be falling out for Republicans.”
