Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) on Wednesday explained to Americans why President-elect Donald Trump is so focused on going after the media and any of his political opposition.
Speaking with Murphy during the latest episode of MSNBC's Deadline: White House, host Nicolle Wallace noted, "When Trump targets someone, it's a red-hot assault on their reputation. Sometimes it comes with public safety concerns."
She asked the Democratic lawmaker, "What is hearing your nine of the Trump story — the strategy for protecting people who end up on the other side of Donald Trump?"

Murphy replied, "I think it is really important to explain to people 'the why'. Why is Donald Trump engaged in this relentless campaign to try to silence journalists, media companies and his political opposition? It's because he is trying to steal from you."
The Connecticut lawmaker emphasized, "He and his friends are in charge of government because they want to rig the rules in order to make them even richer. The billionaires that are in charge of his Cabinet want to be multimillionaires. Donald Trump will never be satiated."
"He wants to steal from ordinary Americans in order to make him and his Mar-a-Lago friends even richer," Murphy continued. "And the reason he wants to silence his critics and the media, is that he doesn't want anybody to notice the kleptocracy that he is building.
