'The confusion continues': Joe Scarborough shreds Trump for mistaking Nikki Haley for Nancy Pelosi
22 January 2024
Republicans have repeatedly attacked President Joe Biden's gaffes, typically ignoring the many gaffes that have come from 2024 GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump.
But during a Monday morning, January 22 broadcast, MSNBC's Joe Scarborough slammed Trump for confusing Biden and Hillary Clinton with former President Barack Obama and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley with former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California) during recent speeches.
Scarborough, a Never Trump conservative and former GOP congressman, opened the segment with a clip of Trump discussing the 2016 presidential election and saying, "With Obama, we won an election that everyone said couldn't be won."

That year, Obama was approaching the end of his second term as president — and the Democratic presidential nominee was Clinton, not Obama.
"Morning Joe" also showed clips of Trump confusing Obama with Biden. And a Friday, January 19 clip of Trump speaking in New Hampshire showing him saying that Haley "was in charge of security" at the U.S. Capitol Building on January 6, 2021; what was meant to be an attack on Pelosi became a rant against Haley.
Scarborough commented, "The Nikki Haley thing was disturbing…. Time and time and time again, Donald Trump — who's obviously, as Ron DeSantis said, lost more than a step, and as Nikki Haley said, is really confused up there…. You see him go through a speech and he struggles, and he starts to say Obama — and then he cuts himself off. Because his mind's going, 'Wait, is Obama really president still?.... What decade am I in?' And then he continues, and he goes ahead and just says Obama's name. Because he can't remember Biden's name."
The former GOP congressman continued, "And we had the same thing the other night where he goes, 'Nikki, Nikki, Nikki.' He says it three times. And then he moves on, thinking that wait, that doesn't sound quite right — but maybe that's right. And then he comes back, and he accuses Nikki Haley of being Nancy Pelosi in January 6…. (Haley) wasn't even there. She wasn't even in government. And so, the confusion just continues."

Scarborough went on to offer a Trump/Biden comparison.
"You know, I've spent a lot of time with Joe Biden," Scarborough told co-host Mika Brzezinski. "I can tell you, Joe Biden knows where he is. He knows what decade he's in. He sure as hell knows who he's running against. There's just really no comparison here."
