Trump Media alleges purchaser rep 'abused its role' in new lawsuit: report

Trump Media — the social media company founded by Donald Trump in 2021 — is taking legal action against the purchaser representative in the president-elect's company's merger with Digital World Acquisition Corporation earlier this year.

The suit, filed by DLA Piper, alleges that RejuveTotal LLC "abused its role to extort $14 million from Trump Media & Technology Group," according to Law.com's report.

This is "all in an effort to generate leverage for [Patrick] Orlando in his other legal disputes with [Trump Media],” the lawsuit filed in the Supreme Court of New York claims.

Orlando's company, Digital World Acquisition Corporation, is accused of breaching "its fiduciary duty to serve Trump Media’s best interests by racking up—and charging for—unnecessary expenses and fees, as well as pushing for a multimillion-dollar payment in exchange for ending its role as Trump Media’s purchaser representative," Law.com reports.

Law.com notes that Orlando "is also a controlling member of Rejuve, the purchaser representative charged with acting on behalf of DWAC for the transaction."

Furthermore, while "Orlando isn’t named in" the suit, "the complaint frequently referenced the businessman," according to the report.

"Orlando’s interests—and the interests of entities acting at his direction and under his control, including Rejuve—are directly adverse and diametrically opposed to [Trump Media]’s interests," the suit says.
