The Blaze reports a growing cohort of scorned young conservative men are trying to commandeer major franchises and famous brands and twist characters into MAGA champions.
“Over the last several months, we’ve seen this very strange kind of happening online where some of the biggest franchises in entertainment, whether it’s 'Star Wars,' 'Harry Potter,' other franchises,” said far-right BlazeTV host John Doyle. “These are now being reimagined by young guys on the right who are taking characters once celebrated by liberals and turning them into symbols of something completely opposed to the values of just contemporary society.”
One such repurposed character would be the reimagined female version of Harry Potter’s Draco Malfoy, called “Malfoid.”
“People were asking this [artist] to make a version of Malfoy that was trans or lesbian, and the artist completely refused, and they were like, ‘I drew this to make guys yearn again,’” Doyle said, allegedly to appeal to “sensitive, young” MAGA men.
Wired.com reports Trump’s Department of Education is even promoting the “Malfoid” meme.
Another character, said Doyle, would be the MAGA-tized version of Anakin Skywalker, a good guy gone bad — but only because of the universe’s perceived “rejection of young white men in favor of third-world immigrants,” he argued.
“[Skywalker] wanted to bring order to this corrupt and dysfunctional society. He wanted to have it all, right? A beautiful wife, a family, the power to actually protect the people he loved who were being harmed,” said Doyle. “But instead, he’s surrounded by incompetent politicians, hypocritical religious authorities, and this disgusting, decaying republic that can’t actually accomplish anything. … And so eventually, yeah, he decided that he’s had enough.”
Anakin Skywalker’s character eventually massacred a whole class of small Jedi children, but Doyle said that despite his “bad guy” label there’s a great reason so many young men relate to the mass murderer.
“If you’re telling a story about a naturally gifted young man who is prevented from reaching his potential by old people who are lecturing him but ultimately refusing to answer his questions or address the problems he’s facing, yeah, it’s called being a young white guy,” said Doyle. “… He’s withheld from positions which he has actually earned by merit. He’s told that he can’t have things that he looks for, such as, you know, a girlfriend, for these vague and silly reasons … [and] he’s tortured and harmed by weird alien freaks that society doesn’t actually bother with meaningfully dealing with.”
“And all of this is in the wake of literally decades of the young, straight, white male being demonized, being talked about as a threat, something to be dealt with,” Doyle said, while adding that “unsurprisingly liberals are not taking [the movement] well.”
“Naturally, this has made a lot of people very angry because in their mind, only they get to reimagine what these characters were supposed to be for, what these franchises are supposed to be about, the new DEI sequels and revamps and so on,” he said.
