President Donald Trump has had a lot to say about Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene lately, branding her a traitor amid her break from him on numerous issues, but according to a Washington Post report, her MAGA voter base still has her back.
Greene, a Georgia Republican once noted for her fierce loyalty to Trump and support for fringe conspiracy theories, has made waves and headlines in recent months by opposing the president on issues like healthcare costs, affordability and the Epstein files. The feud between the once-close allies culminated when Trump took to social media to rescind his endorsement of Greene and brand her a traitor to the Republican Party.
One group that declaration might be lost on: Republican voters. Speaking to members of Greene’s MAGA base in a her deep-red home district, the Washington Post found supporters “digging in their heels” to continue supporting her, though they also continued to support Trump and expressed hope for a reconciliation.
“I love mom, and I love dad, and I know that deep down they love each other,” Jackie Harling, chair of the Walker County GOP Georgia, said after a party meeting this week, likening the feud to a split between parents. “I want mom and dad to make up. And I think they will.”
Speaking to the Post following a the same meeting, local resident and podcaster Roy Hambrick said that while he “still liked” the president, “someone needed to knock Trump in the back of the head and tell him to stop” his feud with Greene. He credited the congresswoman with “speaking the language of the people” and commended her support for Epstein files disclosure.
“Did you see the House voted today to release the Epstein files?” he said. “I was jumping up and down. This is what I want.”
Resident Tammy Carter also expressed hope that Trump will “get over” his conflict with Greene, noting some frustration with his recent comments and, as many others did, commending the congresswoman for her support of releasing the Epstein files.
“When it comes to that,” Carter said, “I’m totally on her side.”
