Trump loses it over 'last-minute' revelation about Mueller's upcoming testimony

President Donald Trump is not happy that former Special Counsel Robert Mueller will be appearing Wednesday before Congress accompanied by his counsel Aaron Zebley.

Zebley served as Mueller's deputy in the Special Counsel's Office. He will be sworn in and testify, according to the Washington Post.

Trump lashed out about the revelation on Twitter:

Rep. Douglas Collins (R-GA), the ranking member of the Judiciary Committee, objected to the plan, calling it a "last-minute addition to the witness list would now jeopardize whether tomorrow’s hearing complies with the rules of the House.”

"The Justice Department also opposed the idea of allowing Zebley to give sworn testimony," the Post found.

Mueller's spokesman and House Intelligence Committee Chair Adam Schiff (D-CA) indicated that Zebley's presence has been in the works for some time now. However, the Washington Post reported that the request of have Zebley sworn in and testify was made by Mueller only in the last "24 hours or so."

Schiff suggested he didn't want Zebley to upstage his former boss, saying, "We want this hearing to be about Director Mueller."

It's not clear what, exactly, there is for Trump, the DOJ, and Republicans to object to about the possible testimony. But their whole intention is to discredit and attack Mueller to distract from the damning evidence he compiled about the president, and making a mountain out of a molehill over this issue will serve this purpose as much as anything else.

Matt Zapotosky, one of the authors of the Post report, noted in response to Trump's tweet: "I’ve seen no evidence Zebley is a 'Never Trumper.' While many on Mueller’s team donated to Democrats, Zebley had no political donation history."
